Family Session | Duluth MN, Outdoor Pictures, Lifestyle Photography in Northern Minnesota

This is a tiny example of an outdoor session where we can just play, explore, and make memories. Getting outside in the hours before sunset is so great for lighting, and I love that glow! Taking family portraits outside, I am able to capture the in-between moments like worm-hunting, “Frozen”, dance parties, and petting the pup. You may notice I’m sharing images with less individual identity, you know: less faces, less direct eye contact. This is a move toward slowly finding ways to share snippets without telling someone else’s story to the world. Sometimes, for the sake of a family, I want to keep special moments private. There are still some great photos we can share together, enjoying the composition and details of the portrait! Is that weird? I don’t necessarily want to be the announcer of moments that I think are special, and deserve to stay “home” or be shared in their own time.
I know that probably sounds weird as a storytelling photographer. But honestly, there is just SO much out there on the internet these days, that I think it’s okay! So, if you’re wondering why there aren’t many faces in these pictures, and no family pictures on this blog roll. They got them! I promise! And there are some amazing smiles and laughs, too!!!
